Lilac Love Reviews

Lilac Love is such a cosy, witch-y, romantic story! Firstly, this book is definitely a new comfort read for me! The atmosphere that Rosie creates is one which I adore. The sweet small town with quirky characters makes a cute charming story.
There is very good queer/LGBTQIA+ representation in this book as well! The whole reading experience is very wholesome and acts like a warm hug!
The food and baking in this book is absolutely stand-out for me. I love that it is purposefully character specific, in that it is all plant based! It felt like this was so perfect for Elsie’s character. The way that food was used to bring the characters together was something I loved as a witch-y wannabe who loves to bake!
Amanda is also a dynamic character who has some secrets following her. There was some mystery in this, and it made me desperate to read more!
Let’s not forget Philo!! Oh my goodness, Philo is such a cute name and also adds a touch of haphazard chaos and fun to the already perfect duo that is Elsie and Amanda.
I would absolutely recommend this story for anyone who loves cosy, witch-y, small town romance with queer/LGBTQIA+ representation and closed door/spice-less books!
Can’t wait for the next book!

"Making people like you through magic isn’t real."

Elise owns Pie in the Sky, a newish bakery Cafe in town. Amanda is a total newbie who has arrived on the run from her past life and currently works with the local delivery service. And this is the story of falling for each other with every problem imaginable trying to keep them from each other.

Elise is a witch, and Amanda is a "Normy". Having grown up in a "mixed marriage " Elise knew there could be trouble ahead. Amanda's backstory is fraught with deceit and suspicions but she's "not going there" because of the trauma her family inflicted on her.

Can these two get over themselves and become their own "family"?

I really loved this story. Sapphic, paranormal and a mystery? Rosie Evylin is a an author to watch for and support in my reading life. Bring on book 2!
Highly Recommended 5/5

Lavender Loathing Reviews

It’s about loving and accepting anyone as they are

"Your path is still your own to choose."

Holy Hannah, this book might be better than the first one was! Phoebe and Sam. San with his daughter and his fierce need to protect both her and his sister. Phoebe who is dealing with neurodivergency, being an earth witch, and very low self esteem who has returned to her family and a possible chance at being a vet without the baggage of being her parents' daughter.

Add a coven of misfits, an issue with ecological ramifications and fake dating --- or even real dating and you have a marvelous read that will make you laugh and cry, applaud and boo, and get wrapped up in a love story for this age. Brava Rosie Evylin. Long may you write! Highly Recommended 5/5

Great fun with this second witchy romance from author Rosie Evylin.

Phoebe has moved from New York back to smalltown New Zealand and it’s a big change. She meets Sam when she nearly runs him over and sparks fly - but not in a good way. Phoebe is back living with her cousin Elsie and trying to buy into a vet practice. She’s vocal and extroverted, she’s got a 50s style moment happening, but also adjusting to an ADHD diagnosis. Sam is a local, he is running the town's bar and living there with his young daughter, Charlie. He's overwhelmed by responsibility, money troubles, and the grind of it all. He loves his daughter to pieces but it’s just all wearing him down. He’s overprotective and has trust issues. He and Phoebe clash and clash and clash but the chemistry is there - it's closed door but we can feel the tension between them.

There’s also a lot for Phoebe, with settling in, making new friends, her stuffy old boss and spooky stuff going on as well.

What made this gem of a romance work for me was that the primary source of the tension between them wasn’t her witchiness, rather it was that her ADHD chaos triggered Sam's anxiety. Even in this romantastic landscape it felt very real and a little bit heartbreaking. Rosie has threaded in some keen observations around anxiety and neurodiversity and these resonated for me. Phoebe and Sam get there of course and all the layers settle but it’s quite a ride.

Wonderful to see Amanda and Elsie again (from Lilac Love) and Sam's daughter Charlie is just delightful - recommended!

Okay I flew through this book! Started it less then 24 hours ago, so let’s TALK about it! First off small town, hot single dad, grumpy sunshine and for those guy and girls that just are not into spice but still want romance well guess what this right here is a closed door type of spice so perfect for the heat of romance without being sexually explicit.. also did I mention Phoebe here is a witch?!? Also Wolf’s ?? Let’s be real nothing better than a fun quick fall reader with comedy and great banter. Elise and Amanda are the perfect girl besties that every good rom com needs that truly help build the image of the book in your minds eye. I don’t want to go into too much detail and give away the book but if your a fall girly then this book is such a mood. Read this book while having all 4 Halloween town films playing in the back for my kids to watch and now I’m ready to decorate for this spooky time of year. So do yourself a favor give lavender loathing a try! 🧙🏼‍♀️🐺💜
